Introduction to Trauma-Informed Care

Presented by Britney Waterworth, PLPC (Crittenton Children's Center/TraumaSmart)

Participants will. . .

 Become aware of the ACE’s study and potential lifelong consequences of the impact of trauma on mental and physical health.

 Become familiar with the definition of trauma and how trauma impacts a child’s ability to learn.

 Be able to identify the parts of the brain involved in the trauma response.

 Be able to identify situations that trigger emotional reactions for them in the school setting.

 Be able to identify symptoms of secondary trauma.

 Practice preventative and in-the-moment self-care strategies.
